Affiliate marketing is a great way to bring in extra cash from home when you find a reputable affiliate program.

 

If you’re only starting to research affiliate marketing, you may be asking “Is ShareASale affiliate network a scam?”

 

I’ll just tell you right now that, no it is not a scam. I do need to tell you a couple of other things before you get into promoting the different products there.

Pretty simple, right?

 

Most of the time it is pretty simple.

 

When you are deciding what offer to promote through ShareASale, it is most powerful to believe in the product or service you are promoting.

 

If you don’t use it yourself, it’s pretty difficult to tell other people they should use it. I know there are plenty of people that DO promote products and services they’ve never used, but I’ve never felt good about it. Up to you though.

 

When you are checking out the different offers you can promote, make sure they have money in their accounts to pay you and that they pay a decent percentage of commission. You don’t want to make peanuts.

 

If you sell a product and they only pay you $1 for a sale, it’s going to take you quite a bit of work to start making good cashola. Do yourself a favor and find some offers that will pay you more money every time that you make a sale. šŸ˜€

 

The reason I wrote about ShareASale today was that I got an unexpected payment from them. lol I just passively wrote a post about a service that I use because it was helpful to me and I didn’t even realize I had been making sales for the past five months… lol

I use a tool called Jaaxy that helps you figure out which keywords are being searched for, how much competition there is and which ones you might want to target for yourself.

It is really easy to get lost in the keyword research part of things, but even if you pick a keyword and don’t rank for it, it is still good for your website’s content. The more high-quality content you have on your website, the better your rankings will be.

Aiming for a site load time of 2-3 seconds is a must.

 

No slow sites, please!

 

If you don’t visit your site often, you might not notice that your site is going slow and that you need to reduce site slowness.

 

Try using a test like the Google Page Speed test will allow you to see how your site is really doing. While it may appear fast on your end, that could be because of your browser cache.

 

You want to make sure you are getting a true reading on your site. You also want to make sure people from all over the world get a great experience and not only from one part of the world. Good site speed for people all over is a reason you might want to consider using a CDN (Content Delivery Network) for your content.

While plugins can do a lot of cool things, they may slow down your site. If they are keeping you from doing what is necessary, you need to find out which ones you can uninstall.

 

While it is recommended that you keep the number of plugins that you use to five or less, I don’t do it on my own site because — I need those!

 

2. Limit Social Media Sharing Buttons

 

Only have main social media sharing buttons on your posts and pages. The more code you have a site, the more it is going to lag your page and cause slowdowns.

 

Having social sharing buttons is good for getting the word out there, but overdoing it won’t help. Most people aren’t sharing to obscure social media sites anyway.

 

3. Enable Caching

 

Caching is where you are going to need a plugin if using WordPress. Find a cache plugin to install on your WordPress site, so you are able to store files of your site locally for people to have faster access.

 

Any time you update your website, you want to make sure to clear the cache. If you don’t clear your cache, people will see the old version of the website.

 

4. Optimize Images

 

Large or unoptimized images can cause major problems for your site’s speed. Slow page speeds due to images are an easy fix. You can optimize the photos before you put them on your site or if you think a plugin is worth the space, which I do, you can put a plugin up and wha-la!

 

Optimized images give the visitor a better experience and keep your site speed at its best.

 

5. Use a CDN

 

Content delivery networks aka CDNs deliver your content from different parts of the world, so your visitors get a fast experience no matter where in the world they are.

 

Serving your site from a CDN can mean big speed improvements. If you are a beginner, this can be somewhat confusing so you might want to hire a WordPress tech to set it up for you.

If your subject line is a snooze, you have to amp it up. If you can’t get people to open your emails, you don’t have a chance.

 

If you know who your target market is, it makes it much easier for you to get their attention because you know what they want to see and read. Don’t be afraid to be unique.

 

You don’t want to sound like every other email going through their inbox.

 

4. Poor Design in Your Emails

 

When people do get into your emails, how do they look? Design is important. If people are opening your emails to see plain, lazy and boring email, it is likely that they will unsubscribe or at least stop opening your emails.

 

You might even end up in the ā€œread laterā€ folder that no one goes back to.

 

5. They Don’t Recognize the Sender

 

If you are sending emails, make sure people are able to recognize the sender. If they signed up for Suzy’s Email Tips and you are sending it from Susan Smith, they aren’t going to know who you are. Since they don’t know who you are, they aren’t going to open your emails.
