Promoting your blog is an essential part of its success. While it might be nice to think when we post a blog that people will magically find our content, but that’s not the way it works. When you write your new blog post, you need to have a list of ways you will promote your new content.

You should also know going in that some of your content is going to do great and some of your content is going to crash and burn! Yeah, sorry about that but even your masterpiece blog post might do really BAD.

The only thing you can do is give your blog the most promotional gumption you can! Here are my best “secrets” or tricks (whatever you want to call them) about how to promote your blog so bookmark this page to come back to it later.

Steps for Blog Promotion

These steps for blog promotion are in no particular order so do it in whatever way works for you.

1. Social Media

Social media. That’s where all the people be – yo!

If you want the people to come to you, go to the people. Whether you’re interacting with them on their own profiles, boosting posts on your fan page or in groups, don’t neglect people. Get in the trenches and find out what people want to know about.

Social media is a great place for research, but it’s also a great place to find people that are looking for the answers your blog post provides. Promote your blog post on your profile, fan page and in groups that allow it. You need to get eyes on your content, or there is no use creating it.

2. Video

People love video because it is fun and easy. Reading means you have to take time away from what you’re doing – but video, on the other hand, does all the work for you. Make videos you don’t necessarily have to watch to get value from because people will be able to play it without looking and still understand the message.

3. Forums

Many forums allow you to have a signature at the bottom of your posts. You can put your blog link there, so it shows at the bottom of posts that you make.

4. Blog Commenting

Comment on blogs that are similar to your blog and have an audience that would be interested in your content. Your comments should be helpful and add value to the blog, so they aren’t spammy. Most blogs have a section you can type your website in whenever you comment so put your blog post URL there.

These are super simple ways to promote your blog and will have you off to the races for blog promo.

Wow, I knew about social media and videos but I’ve never thought of using forums before and much less commenting on others blogs. Since the goal is to be ahead of the competition I myself think about only promoting my own blog so that it doesn’t get overshadowed by others.
I didn’t stop to think the benefits of posting on others blogs and how it could actually be used to advertise my own blog at the same time.

I do have two questions, there are just so many places to posts videos, from Youtube to Twitter, and FaceBook.
Is there a specific one that you would recommend so that I could get my blog “out there” so to say?

And then about the forums, I don’t really use those so haven’t the slightest idea on how to start, any tips for newer people by any chance?

      Joe,

Sure thing. Facebook is one of the easiest places to get traction with video right now. They are getting ready to go toe to toe with YouTube. If you do live videos on Facebook, it is even better. Offer value in your video and then offer them more in-depth content by going to read about it on your blog.

As far as the forums, you can go to google, type in your niche and add the term forum and you’ll have a bunch of options. 🙂 Enjoy!

I was just reading an article on how to promote your social media accounts and how to make them grow and then I stumble upon this. I think with all the bloggers out there its become a very competitive place. Creating content that is not only accurate but tempting to the eye is key. Nowadays especially here in America people tend to have short attention spans and when something doesn’t garner their interests they just go elsewhere, which is why I believe social media is very powerful when it comes to promoting a blog. You can simply search for your targeted audience and interact with them, I Especially use twitter a lot since its much more free to express myself. Great read.

      Stephanie,

Right on! Go where the people are. If you don’t get out and get your hands dirty, you’re going down… lol Glad to hear you’re active and promoting on social. :0)

Thanks Jessica there’s some great tips here. I know my downfall is a fairly major lack of promotion via social media. I always hope the strategy of people magically finding my awesome content will work! Alas it doesn’t bring the traffic I want so I need to be much be more proactive on social media. What are the social media platforms you’ve had success with? And what are the ones that haven’t worked as well as you’d hoped?

I only got onto Tumblr about 2 weeks ago and I like it so far, but I’m unsure how to actively find people to follow. Social media and getting my message out there will be my main focus of 2019. I thank you for your great post!

      Melissa,

Well, a major part of making progress is realizing where you aren’t winning. Now you know you need to promote on social more so it is time to get to work on that. 😀 Good for you!

As far as the social platforms I’ve found that work for me, it is whatever ones I work on. If I spend time on Facebook then that is my best platform, same with LinkedIn and Twitter, etc. I find my favorite is Facebook right now even with its limits of friends.

Twitter is really good if you want to next level things with lots of followers because there isn’t a limit of people you can socialize with. 🙂

I have done things such as commenting on other blogs to build back links straight back to my website. I have never messed with Forums because I am aware that some of them have some rules against self promotion.

I am curious as to how you are able to get around that if you have to?

    • Jessica Lauren Vine on January 6, 2019 at 1:18 am

      Jessie,

Hey there. 🙂 You just have to find the forums that allow you to have a link in your signature then you’re good to go. 🙂

Although I’d use social media and some other platforms too; I will also use videos. I am a YouTuber and the contents use to produce are graphics tutorials. But now I’ve changed my niche to Affiliate Marketing and I think I will do well with promoting my Contents via videos as videos convert better than any other means.

That is great. Video is definitely the wave of the future. The most people get comfortable with video, the better they will do!
