When you think about personal branding and want to learn personal branding 101, it’s easy to feel a sense of overwhelm. There are so many things to think about and things to do that you might find yourself in a tailspin.
You can either read this post or watch this video, and I’ll give you three important tips that can make a big difference when you’re just starting with personal branding.
1. Defining Your Message
Before you start building your brand, you need to know what your brand stands for. What do you want people to know you for? How will that message help your business and put you at the forefront of people’s minds when they need someone that does what you do?
When you know exactly what message you want to send to the world, it’s a lot easier to write social media posts, write blog posts, talk on podcasts, and do everything else you need to do to promote your brand and business.
2. Tell Your Story
Your story is a great way to connect with people and make it easy for them to remember you. It can also help drive a point home and build rapport with your ideal audience when you tell your story.
You don’t have to tell your entire story every time you open your mouth. When people consume a lot of your content, they’ll start to piece it together. You might even decide to write a book, so people that have an interest are able to read it to learn more about your story.
3. Consistent Imagery
You can make it easy for people to notice you quickly online if you keep your image consistent. If your image is different across all social media, it can be very confusing. However, if you use the same photo everywhere, it is easy for people to tell it is you.
When it is time to update your photo, update it everywhere and continue the consistent imagery.
Good tips here Jessica. I am big on each. Imagery really makes a strong impact, especially across multiple channels. I post images from my travels to my blog, Facebook, some Twitter and LinkedIn and also Instagram. I see each as being a memorable reminder of my blog and brand. Messaging and story telling count heaps. People love a clear message and great story. Excellent blog post.
Thank you, Ryan! 🙂 I love telling stories so it is a good thing that is a big part of what we do!! =)
