How to Succeed In Life

When you are thinking about how to succeed in life, you have to keep in mind your version of success.

For the sake of this article, we are going to think about success like Napoleon Hill listed it –

SUCCESS is the attainment of your DEFINITE CHIEF AIM without violating the rights of other people.”

If you are reading this blog entry looking for a roadmap to success, I can’t promise you a grand vision of success with mansions and stacks of cash.

What I can promise you is that I will share with you what I’ve learned through the trials and triumphs of my own life and what I have learned from the lives of others.

These Success Tips Are In No Real Order But I Gave Them Numbers Anyway 😉

be successful#1 – Develop a Definite Purpose

I remember a time when I would look at Joe (my hubs) and say –

  • What do you want?
  • Where do you want to live?
  • Where do you want to go?
  • What do you want to do?

He didn’t know so he asked me back and I’m like… heck if I know.

I’m guessing you can figure out that we didn’t get much done with the both of us having no clue what we wanted or what we wanted to do.

There is nothing more frustrating than having a great desire for something different but not being sure what that something different is.

If you want to start working toward success in your life, you have to have a definite purpose.

how to become successful in life#2 – Develop Relationships with Powerful Allies

Even before you get your plans laid, you should seek out good people to align yourself with. There are many benefits to this:

  • Companionship
  • Joint venture opportunities
  • Referral opportunities
  • References
  • and more…

…Always remember that you will only be able to draw from a relationship what you’ve put into it.

There has been more than one instance in my life that I have seen people try to draw from an empty well.

What do I mean by that?

Basically, if you have just met someone and you ask them for a favor – they look at you like you’re coo coo.

Build the relationships before you need them and have no agenda and beautiful things will come about.

#3 – Push Through the Pain

Life is going to give you pain. This is especially true when you are on the path to greatness.

If you want to achieve anything, you can expect to be hit with some pretty hard times. These times are tests to see if you want what you are going after enough or if it is more of a “that would be nice to have” kind of thing.

You’re going to experience a lot of different types of pain!

  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Mental

Any kind of pain you can imagine will come at you whenever you are working toward your goal. If this scares you away then you don’t want it bad enough. That’s ok. It’s your choice!

#4 – Never Be Afraid to Shift Your Course

I have seen a lot of people that are so afraid to change their course purely because they are worried that they are going to appear flaky.

The truth is – if you are doing something and it is not working for you, it makes you look brain dead. lol

There is a difference between persistence and insanity. You’ve got to figure out which one you’re being.

#5 – Remain Humble While Developing Confidence

Being proud and thinking that you’re the best thing since sliced bread is a great way to fall into a big fat pit that you didn’t see because your nose was too high up in the air.

On the other hand, if we are not confident, we are not going to get very far. Again, there is a fine line to walk here.

Find people that you admire that know how to walk that line and model their behavior. This is a good shortcut to getting to where you want to go.

#6 – Learn to Leverage Your Efforts

The truth is that you are rarely able to achieve something truly amazing all by yourself. There is going to be someone or something that you need to make it happen.

Leverage can come in the form of a tool (like this blog post) or in the form of people and plenty of other things.

The more leverage that you have, the more that is able to get done without you actually being there. How cool is that?

How to Be Successful in Life – Conclusion

There are plenty of other things that you can do to become successful in life.

The truth is that success leaves clues. The more that you study, the more you will see that there are things that are in your face clear to show you how to get to where you want to be.

Forever be a student and pay it forward and teach to others and you’ll be amazed at what will come about.
